Chapter 7 - The Master Suite Fallout

The heavy oak door of the master suite gave way with a deafening crack as the federal marshal kicked it open.

Inside, the room was a whirlwind of frantic destruction. Silk pillows were tossed across the king-sized bed, dresser drawers had been ripped out and dumped onto the floor, and the walk-in closet doors stood wide open. Sabina was standing in front of a sleek, wall-mounted digital safe, her fingers flying across the keypad in a desperate blur of motion, her breath coming in ragged, hyperventilating gasps.

“Step away from the safe, ma’am! Federal agents!” the lead marshal shouted, drawing his weapon and stepping into the room.

Sabina froze. Her fingers hovered over the final digit of the code. Slowly, she turned around, her face flushed, her hair coming loose from its polished chignon. The transformation was complete; she looked less like a high-society fiancée and more like a cornered animal.

“You don't understand,” Sabina gasped, her voice cracking as she pointed a shaking finger toward Chadworth, who stood calmly in the doorway with Marcus flanking him. “He set this up! He’s trying to frame me! Check his corporate logs—he’s the one moving capital offshore!”

“Quiet, Sabina,” Chadworth said coldly, stepping into the ruined bedroom. He walked over to the nightstand where her designer handbag lay spilled open. Resting among the tubes of lipstick and compact mirrors was a sleek, encrypted burner phone and a small USB drive labeled with a series of alphanumeric codes.

Chadworth picked up the USB drive, holding it up to the light. “Is this part of the frame-up too? Or is this where you downloaded the master keys to my private accounts before our dinner last night?”

Sabina’s eyes darted to the drive, her expression tightening into pure venom. “You arrogant bastard. You gave it all to me on a silver platter. Every signature, every board approval, every proxy vote. You were so busy playing the billionaire hero that you never even looked at what you were signing.”

“You’re right,” Chadworth admitted quietly, his voice dangerously low. “I didn't look. I trusted you. And that is a mistake I will never make again.” He tossed the USB drive to Marcus. “Hand this to the cyber crimes unit. I want every file decrypted and cross-referenced before the hour is out.”

“Way ahead of you, sir,” Marcus said, pocketing the drive.

The lead marshal stepped forward, clicking heavy steel cuffs around Sabina’s wrists with practiced efficiency. “Sabina Vance, you are under federal arrest for wire fraud, identity theft, and conspiracy to commit financial embezzlement. You have the right to remain silent...”

As the cuffs locked into place with a sharp metallic snap, Sabina glared at Chadworth, her eyes burning with pure hatred.

“You think you’ve won, Chadworth?” she spat out as the marshals began hauling her toward the door. “You think getting rid of me solves your problems? Look closer at your own house! You don't even know who’s sleeping in the guest rooms!”

Chadworth watched her expressionlessly as she was dragged out of the suite, the sound of her protests fading down the grand hallway. But her parting words lingered in the air like a foul odor.

Marcus stepped up beside him, eyeing the doorway uneasily. “Mr. Prescott... what did she mean by that?”

Chadworth turned away from the wreckage of the bedroom, his jaw tightening. “I intend to find out right now.”
