Chapter 10 - A New Horizon

Three weeks later, the blizzard had cleared, leaving Anchorage buried under a blanket of pure, untouched white that sparkled brilliantly beneath a crisp, midday Alaskan sun.

We stood together on the wide wooden veranda of the Harrington estate—which was now legally and officially renamed the Vance Winter Resort and Heritage Reserve, with Samantha holding one hundred percent controlling interest and my Seattle holding firm acting as the silent parent corporation.

The staff had been entirely replaced with loyal, professional personnel vetted by Marcus’s security network. The old, toxic memories of tyranny, abuse, and aristocratic greed had been scrubbed clean from every timber and stone.

Samantha wore a heavy cashmere sweater, a steaming mug of hot spiced cider cradled between her hands, watching the sunlight dance across the frozen pine trees lining the forty-acre property.

I stood beside her, leaning against the railing, wearing a simple wool jacket, looking out over the mountains where my past and my future had finally collided and found peace.

"You know," Samantha said softly, turning her head to look up at me with a warm, teasing smile, "if you ever want a career change, you make a surprisingly terrifying corporate takeover artist."

I chuckled, wrapping my arm around her shoulders and pulling her closer to my side. "I told you, Sam. I'm just a quiet logistics consultant who hates conflict."

"Right," she laughed, resting her head against my chest, listening to the steady, familiar beat of my heart. "A logistics consultant who commands international syndicates and makes federal judges tremble."

"Details," I smiled, pressing a kiss into the crown of her hair.

Down in the driveway, Marcus pulled up in a sleek, black SUV, stepping out to signal that our private transport to the Anchorage airfield was prepped and ready. We were flying down to Seattle for a few weeks, leaving the estate in capable hands while we planned our actual honeymoon—the one we never got to take four years ago.

I looked down at Samantha, seeing the radiant happiness, strength, and security shining in her eyes. The lies were gone. The fear was dead. The crown of the Crimson Shadow wasn't a weapon of terror anymore; it was the shield that kept my family safe.

"Ready?" I asked softly.

May you like

Samantha smiled, slipping her warm hand into mine, her fingers interlaced securely with my own.

"Let's go home, Gareth," she said.
