Chapter 10 - The Arrival of the Cavalry

Headlights cut through the darkness of the tarmac like twin lasers, blinding the floodlights inside the hangar.
A dark sedan came barreling across the open field, kicking up clouds of dust and gravel before slamming to a violent halt right across the entrance of Hangar 4, blocking the path to the idling private jet.
The driver’s side door flew open before the car had even fully settled, and Julian vaulted out, his eyes wild, his knuckles bruised, holding a heavy tire iron in his right hand.
“Give me my daughter!” Julian bellowed, his voice echoing off the steel rafters of the hangar with terrifying intensity.
The woman in the trench coat frowned, taking a sharp step backward as two private security guards rushed out from the shadows near the back of the jet, raising their hands defensively.
“Stop right there, Mr. Bennett,” the broker warned, her calm facade finally cracking under the pressure. “If you force my hand, this situation escalates from a custody dispute into an international aviation security breach.”
“Try it,” a cold, authoritative voice called out from behind Julian.
Agent Miller stepped out from the passenger side of the sedan, flanked by three local police cruisers with their emergency lights flashing a brilliant red and blue against the corrugated metal walls. Miller rested his hand casually on his service holster, his eyes locked onto the broker.
“Federal warrants for human trafficking, interstate wire fraud, and corporate conspiracy,” Miller announced loudly, holding up his badge. “Nobody leaves this hangar.”

The woman stared at the federal badge, her face turning ashen as the realization set in that her corporate shield had finally shattered.
As the police officers flooded into the hangar to secure the perimeter and cuff the security guards, Julian sprinted across the concrete floor toward me. He didn't say a word; he simply dropped the tire iron, wrapped his arms around both me and his daughter, and pulled us into a crushing, tearful embrace.
