Chapter 8 - The Dissolution Protocol

“You think you can just walk away?” Roman snarled, his jaw tight as he stared down the mother of his child and his most trusted attorney. “I will strip you both down to nothing. I’ll freeze every asset, disbar Sterling before the sun sets, and lock you out of every court in this state.”
Julian let out a quiet, dry chuckle, reaching into his inner jacket pocket and pulling out a thick manila folder stamped with the seal of the Federal District Court.
“You can try, Roman,” Julian said, tossing the folder onto the foot of Celeste’s hospital bed. “But you might want to look at what was filed at midnight while you were busy checking your operating ledgers. It’s an emergency petition for the total dissolution of Vascari Holdings, backed by federal whistle-blower testimonies regarding racketeering, tax evasion, and illegal wire transfers.”
Roman stared at the folder, the blood draining from his face. “You don't have the evidence for that. Those files are encrypted behind three tiers of military-grade security.”

“And who do you think wrote the security protocols?” Julian asked quietly, stepping back slightly. “I designed your digital fortress, Roman. Which means I also built the back door.”
Celeste looked down at the infant sleeping peacefully in her arms, then back up at her estranged husband. “The seventy million you thought was sitting safely in the primary operating fund? It’s already been moved into an independent, un-seizable trust managed by the state probate court for our son's welfare. Your empire is legally insolvent as of four o'clock this morning.”
