Chapter 7 - The Inheritance of Blood

By three o'clock that afternoon, the emergency Capo council had reconvened, but the atmosphere in the room had fundamentally inverted.

I sat at the head of the table where my mother had sat just hours earlier. The six regional bosses—men who controlled the city’s shipping docks, financial laundering networks, and security syndicates—looked up at me with a new, sober level of respect. They had watched me dismantle a lifetime of my mother’s tyranny in less than twenty minutes without firing a single shot.

"The federal freeze on the primary accounts will take forty-eight hours to clear under the corporate receivership," I told them, my voice calm, rhythmic, and commanding. "During that time, all logistics operations shift to our secondary European holdings. Nobody touches the ports without my direct authorization."

Vito, the oldest capos representing the Brooklyn docks, slowly nodded his graying head. "And the family, Dominic? With Elena and Arthur gone, the board needs a definitive charter."

"The charter changes today," I replied, standing up and sliding my black leather gloves back onto my hands. "We are pulling out of retail extortion and high-risk street trafficking. We consolidate into legitimate commercial real estate, global shipping infrastructure, and secure venture capital. We operate like a legitimate corporate enterprise because, effective immediately, that is what we are."

No one argued. The era of the ruthless, shadow-bound syndicate was dead. I was building something far more enduring—an empire my sons could actually inherit without blood on their hands.
