Chapter 10 - Dawn of a New Dynasty

Six months later, the ruins of the old Moretti estate had been completely transformed. Instead of a brooding, isolated fortress surrounded by high iron gates and guarded checkpoints, the newly rebuilt residence was a sprawling, modern architectural masterpiece of glass, warm timber, and open-air courtyards designed to let the sunlight flood every single room.
The heavy, suffocating silence that had once haunted the halls was gone, replaced by the sound of laughter echoing across the polished hardwood floors.
In the sunroom—now twice its original size and filled with lush, vibrant botanicals—Lily sat on the plush Persian rug, happily building an impossibly tall tower of wooden blocks with Leo. The eight-year-old boy looked healthier, taller, and infinitely happier, a bright, genuine smile lighting up his face as Lily deliberately knocked his tower over with a triumphant cheer.
Standing on the private balcony just outside the sunroom, Isabella leaned against the wooden railing, sipping her morning coffee as the cool autumn breeze rustled her hair. She wore a simple, elegant emerald dress, her old housekeeping uniform long since relegated to the past.
Footsteps approached softly from behind, and a pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her back against a solid, warm chest. Dominic rested his chin on her shoulder, pressing a soft kiss against her neck.
"You're quiet this morning," Dominic murmured, his deep voice vibrating against her spine.
Isabella smiled, leaning back into his embrace, turning her head slightly to press a kiss to his cheek. "I was just thinking about the day we met. The soap on the kitchen floor. Lily wiping your son's face. If someone had told me then that I'd end up here, standing on this balcony as your wife, I would have thought they were completely insane."
Dominic chuckled, tightening his arms around her waist, turning her so she could face him. His storm-gray eyes were warm, filled with a deep, consuming devotion that he reserved for her alone.
"If someone had told me that a three-year-old girl and her fearless mother were going to walk into my fortress and dismantle every wall I spent a decade building," Dominic said softly, his thumbs gently tracing her cheekbones, "I would have had them thrown off the property." He paused, a tender smile touching his lips. "Instead, it was the best thing that ever happened to me."
"You still run half of Boston's corporate sector and keep an entire syndicate underground in check," Isabella teased gently, raising an eyebrow.
"Business is business," Dominic replied smoothly, leaning down to press his lips gently against hers. "But my real empire is right here. Safe. Protected. And finally alive."
From inside the sunroom, Lily’s bright voice rang out, calling for them to come join the block tower game, followed by Leo’s infectious laughter.
Dominic pulled back, taking Isabella’s hand in his, interlocking their fingers tightly.

"Come on," Dominic said, a rare, radiant smile breaking across his face. "Our children are waiting."
Isabella smiled brightly, letting him lead her inside, knowing that whatever storms lay ahead in the unpredictable world outside, they would face them together—not as a master and his employee, but as a family.
