Chapter 28 - A New Horizon in Paris

Two weeks after the gala, the private executive jet soared high above the Atlantic Ocean, cutting smoothly through an endless expanse of fluffy white clouds bathed in the golden hues of an afternoon sunset.

Inside the luxurious private cabin, Claire sat comfortably by the window, reading a bound portfolio of European real estate acquisitions. Across the aisle, Arthur was playing softly with ten-month-old Clara, eliciting bright, joyful giggles from the infant as she clutched a small wooden toy.

"Are the preliminary reports from the Paris branch ready?" Arthur asked, glancing up with an amused smile.

"Already reviewed and approved," Claire replied, a radiant smile touching her lips. "Whitmore Europe is officially launching its sustainable architecture initiative next month. No hidden liabilities, no corrupt board members—just clean, visionary growth."

Arthur leaned back in his leather seat, taking a sip of sparkling water. "It’s hard to believe how far we've come from that cold, dark night at the Chapel Hill Estate."

Claire looked out the window, watching the sun dip slowly below the horizon, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of violet, amber, and gold. The ghosts of Grant, Julian, and the Vanguard syndicate were nothing more than distant whispers in the wind. She had faced the deepest abyss, dismantled every trap, and rewritten the rules of her own destiny.

"We didn't just escape the past, Arthur," Claire whispered softly, her eyes shining with absolute freedom and unbridled power. "We conquered it."

The jet banked gently eastward, carrying them toward the glittering lights of Paris and an infinite, beautiful future that belonged entirely to them.
