Chapter 37 - The London Expansion

Four months later, the private jet touched down at London Heathrow Airport under a classic overcast English sky.

Whitmore Holdings was expanding its footprint into the British financial sector, acquiring one of London’s oldest and most prestigious sustainable real estate portfolios. Yet, expansion into the UK brought its own unique brand of complex aristocratic politics and cutthroat corporate dynasties.

Inside the executive penthouse suite overlooking the River Thames, Claire stood before a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, reviewing the dossier of Lord Alistair Vance—no relation to Arthur, but an influential British shipping tycoon who controlled the historic docklands targeted for Whitmore’s new green-energy maritime hub.

Lord Vance had publicly opposed the acquisition, attempting to use his political influence in Parliament to block Whitmore Holdings from securing the zoning permits.

A soft knock interrupted her thoughts as Natalie stepped into the office, holding an encrypted tablet.

"We have a breakthrough, Claire," Natalie said, her eyes bright with triumph. "We dug into Lord Vance’s shipping manifests. His cargo lines have been secretly smuggling luxury goods past customs to evade British tariffs. We have the digital paper trail."

Claire turned around, a cool, confident smile gracing her lips. "He thought he could use old boys' club politics to bully us out of London. He forgot that we don't play by their rules."

"Shall I schedule a meeting with his legal team?" Natalie asked.

"No," Claire replied smoothly, grabbing her designer coat. "Schedule a meeting directly with Lord Vance. Tell him I’m coming to discuss his shipping manifests."
