Chương 28 - A New Horizon

The morning after the centennial gala, the private study of the Hale Estate in Winnetka was filled with the soft, gentle light of a autumn dawn.
I sat behind the massive mahogany desk that had once belonged to Arthur, going over the preliminary expansion blueprints for our newest luxury eco-resort development along the pristine coast of New Zealand. The world had changed dramatically over the decades, but the fundamental rules of empire-building remained eternally the same: vigilance, strength, and unwavering loyalty to family.
The heavy oak door of the study clicked open.
Lucas walked in, holding a leather-bound portfolio containing the final regional acquisition sign-offs from our Tokyo and London boards. He walked over to the desk, placing the documents neatly beside my laptop with a quiet, respectful grace.
“London and Tokyo have both signed off without a single revision,” Lucas said, leaning against the edge of the desk. “The international portfolio is fully consolidated.”
I looked up, offering him a proud, knowing smile.
“You’ve done exceptional work, Lucas,” I murmured. “Your great-grandfather Arthur would have been prouder than words can express.”
“I only had the best teacher in the world,” Lucas replied softly, smiling down at me.

As my son walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows to look out over the sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan, I leaned back in my executive chair, taking a long, steady breath of the quiet morning air.
The battles were behind us. The enemies were forgotten ghosts. And as the sun climbed higher into the azure sky, casting its golden warmth across the sprawling estate, I knew that our legacy was secure—not just as hoteliers or executives, but as the true rulers of our own destiny.
