Chapter 25 - INSIDE THE OMEGA GRIDThe interior of the bunker core was freezing, the air conditioned down to near-freezing temperatures to keep the miles of server blades from melting under their own computational load. The blue glow of thousands of LED indicator lights cast long, eerie shadows across the metal walkways.

"We need to hook the drive directly into the master terminal at the center of the array," my father said, leading the way down the grated metal catwalks with terrifying speed. "That's the only node with enough bandwidth to upload the counter-virus across the entire global satellite constellation."

Miller pulled rear security at the top of the metal access stairs, her weapon trained on the heavy blast doors we had just forced open. "You've got two minutes before they blow those doors with thermal charges! Move!"

I sprinted behind my father, my boots clanking rhythmically against the metal grating until we reached a raised circular platform dominating the center of the room. Atop the platform sat a sleek, obsidian-black terminal console flashing an ominous countdown timer: SYSTEM WIPE IN 120 SECONDS.

"Give me the drive," my father said, snatching the titanium module from my hand and slamming it into the main data port.

A new window materialized instantly on the main display screen, glowing with a stark, golden interface bearing an old, familiar family crest—the same crest I had seen embossed on the cover of my father's journal back in Zurich.

"What is that?" I asked, watching lines of complex cryptographic code cascade down the screen at blinding speed.

"That's the kill-switch," my father said softly, a grim smile touching his lips. "I built this architecture twenty-five years ago, right before they tried to assassinate me. Project Janus was my design originally... but when I found out what Sterling and the syndicate planned to turn it into, I embedded a master backdoor into the foundational source code."

Suddenly, the heavy blast doors at the entrance of the bunker core exploded inward in a blinding flash of orange fire and flying steel.
