Chapter 16 - The Gallo Alliance

By noon, the financial district was in a frenzy.

Sterling & Co. had officially been renamed Vance Global Holdings. The stock market, sensing blood in the water, had initially panicked, but as soon as the U.S. Attorney’s Office released a public statement confirming that the corrupt management had been purged and the company’s assets were now under the clean, uncompromised leadership of Elena Vance, the stock rebounded by a historic fourteen percent.

In the private penthouse suite overlooking the harbor, Elena stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, sipping a cup of black coffee.

The heavy oak door opened softly, and Marcus stepped inside, holding an encrypted secure tablet.

“Federal marshals just transferred Arthur and Lawrence to the federal penitentiary upstate,” Marcus reported smoothly. “And Victor Thorne’s cooperation agreement has been locked in by the U.S. Attorney. The entire network of shell companies is unraveling faster than a cheap sweater.”

Elena turned around, her expression calm and collected. “And the Gallo estate? Did Dominic receive my message?”

“The boss received it,” Marcus said with a faint, respectful smile. He tapped the screen of the tablet, turning it around to show a secure incoming video call request. “In fact, he’d like to discuss the future of downtown commercial development personally.”

Elena raised an eyebrow, walking over to the glass desk where the tablet rested. She pressed accept.

The screen flickered, resolving into a crisp, high-definition feed from a dimly lit, elegantly appointed study. Sitting in a leather wingback chair was Dominic Gallo. He wore a dark, impeccably tailored suit, a silver gold signet ring catching the light as he swirled a glass of amber whiskey.

“Mrs. Sterling,” Dominic greeted, his voice deep, cultured, and carrying an undeniable undertone of dangerous authority. “Or should I say, Madam Chairperson. I must admit, watching you dismantle the Sterling empire in less than twenty-four hours was poetry in motion.”

“Flattery won’t secure you a discount on the warehouse district holdings, Mr. Gallo,” Elena replied coolly, crossing her arms over her chest. “Let’s skip the pleasantries. Your organization helped me clean out my house, secure my servers, and neutralize Victor Thorne. What’s your price?”

Dominic took a slow sip of his whiskey, a low, appreciative chuckle rumbling in his chest.

“I like a woman who doesn't waste time,” Dominic said, leaning forward slightly toward the camera. “The Gallo family doesn't want discounts, Elena. We want stability. Downtown real estate has been a battlefield of corrupt trusts and shady shell companies for a decade. With you at the helm of Vance Global, we finally have a partner who understands how business is actually conducted.”

Elena narrowed her eyes. “A partnership?”

“A strategic alliance,” Dominic corrected smoothly. “You control the legal title and corporate governance. The Gallo network ensures that no one ever tries to pull a hostile takeover on you again—ever.”

Elena stared at the screen, weighing the risks, the power, and the absolute control it offered. For three years, she had been a victim. Now, she was sitting at the head table of the city’s most powerful corporate dynasty, allied with the most feared syndicate leader on the East Coast.

“Accepted,” Elena said clearly. “But on one condition.”

Dominic smiled—a sharp, predatory curve of his lips. “Name it.”

“If anyone ever threatens my company, my family, or my peace again,” Elena said, her green eyes locking onto the camera with icy intensity, “you don’t wait for my call. You burn them to the ground.”

Dominic raised his whiskey glass toward the camera in a silent toast. “It’s a deal, Madam Chairperson.”
