Chapter 10 - The Unseen Buyer

The private conference room on the forty-second floor was bathed in twilight shadows as I pushed open the double doors.

A tall man in a tailored charcoal suit stood by the window, looking out over the sprawling city lights below. When the door clicked shut behind me, he turned around.

He wasn't an elderly broker or a nervous startup founder. He was a man in his late forties with sharp, intelligent eyes, an expensive silver watch, and an unmistakable aura of quiet corporate power.

"Emma Vance," the man said, offering a polite, measured nod as he extended his hand. "Or should I say, the true architect behind Apex Tower's commercial portfolio."

I didn't take his hand immediately. I crossed my arms and studied him closely. "You're Marcus Vance's restructuring trustee, but you aren't here on behalf of a vulture fund. Who do you really represent?"

The man smiled faintly, sliding a thick, leather-bound portfolio across the mahogany table—bearing a corporate seal I hadn't seen in over a decade.

"I represent your uncle, Julian Vance," the man said quietly, dropping a name that hadn't been spoken inside these walls since the bitter family schism fifteen years ago. "And he wants to buy every single share of CloudAxis the moment Nathan's holdings hit the auction block tomorrow morning... starting with the patent rights you secretly financed six years ago."
