Chapter 48 - The Zurich Operation

The secure tactical transport aircraft touched down on a clandestine airstrip tucked deep within the Swiss Alps under the cover of a freezing midnight snowstorm. The wind howled against the reinforced fuselage like a chorus of angry ghosts, but inside the drop bay, our strike team was a sanctuary of absolute silence and lethal focus.
I stood at the head of the tactical line, securing my helmet, checking my sidearm, and adjusting my night-vision goggles as the red jump lights cast an eerie glow across our gear.
“We are thirty seconds out from the target compound,” Command Sergeant Major Vance briefed crisply, tapping his tactical tablet to display a holographic floor plan of a fortified chalet nestled against a sheer cliff face—the exact secondary stronghold of the mastermind who had slipped through our fingers in the Barents Sea. “Local security detail is estimated at twelve armed mercenaries. Perimeter sensors are active, but Major Lin has already looped the CCTV feed with a 12-second delay loop.”
“In, out, and secure,” I commanded, my voice cutting through the hum of the aircraft engines. “We don't negotiate, we don't grandstand, and we leave zero loose ends.”
The rear ramp of the transport dropped open with a pneumatic hiss, throwing a wall of blinding snow and sub-zero air across the deck. Without a moment's hesitation, our strike team surged forward into the blizzard, melting into the shadows of the alpine ridge like ghosts.
We breached the perimeter fence in three seconds flat, cutting the razor wire with silent hydraulic shears before moving in a tight, disciplined formation toward the rear service entrance of the chalet.

Major Lin’s voice crackled softly through our encrypted comms channel: “You’re clear on the thermal feed, Colonel. Main security door is yours in five... four... three... two... one... breach.”
With a synchronized thump, our explosive breacher blew the reinforced steel lock off its hinges, and we flooded into the chalet in a tidal wave of tactical precision.
