Chapter 37 - Breakthrough and Counter-Strike

The heavy steel blast door of the bunker shuddered under the concussive force of an exterior breaching charge, showering the command floor in a fine spray of concrete dust and flickering sparks.
"They're at the secondary bulkhead!" Marcus shouted, laying down a sustained wall of suppressive fire toward the reinforced corridor as smoke began billowing through the ventilation vents.
Ethan’s fingers danced across the console with superhuman speed, executing the final automated upload sequence. "The entire Janus core database is syncing with every allied intelligence server across the globe! Three... two... one... transmission complete!"
Across the main monitors, a massive global status bar hit one hundred percent, locking out all external overrides and making the syndicate's entire global infrastructure permanently public and irrecoverable.
"It's out," Ethan yelled over the deafening roar of automated alarms. "The network is decentralized and exposed to every government on earth. They can't delete it anymore!"
Daniel grabbed his son by the shoulder, shoving him toward the concealed emergency egress tunnel located behind the server racks. "Marcus, get Ethan through the ridge tunnel to the backup G-Wagon! Move, now!"
"Boss, what about you?" Marcus yelled, firing a controlled burst down the smoking corridor as tactical flashbangs detonated against the bulkhead.

"I'm going to lock the vault," Daniel said, a lethal glint in his eye. He turned back to look at Elena, who stood frozen amidst the chaos. He grabbed her arm roughly, hauling her toward the escape hatch alongside them. "You wanted to play at the top of the world, Elena? Let's see how you handle the fall."
As the primary blast door finally gave way under a thunderous explosion of steel and fire, Daniel slammed the emergency bunker seal button, plunging the descending elevator shaft into total darkness as they dropped deep into the heart of the mountain.
