Chapter 42 - Convergence of Interests

Ethan’s eyes widened as a new data stream flooded his monitors, bypassing the national firewall blackouts with effortless grace. "Dad, look at the packet loss! It’s dropping to zero! The routing table is expanding across independent academic and commercial satellite links worldwide!"
"Can they trace the source back to this cabin?" Daniel asked sharply, keeping his eyes locked on the radio speaker.
"Negative," Oracle replied smoothly. "Your broadcast is bouncing through fourteen different proxy servers across South America and Eastern Europe simultaneously. To the shadow board, it looks like a localized system glitch inside the Pentagon's own internal audit servers. They’re too busy tearing each other apart to look here."

Elena stepped closer to the workbench, her eyes scanning the complex routing lines cascading across the monitor. Her composure finally shattered completely, her hands trembling as she gripped the edge of the wooden table. "You're routing through the global maritime navigation network... That means every commercial cargo ship, every oceanic research vessel, and every commercial airline is now hosting a piece of the Janus database."
"Smart woman," Oracle’s voice echoed dryly. "You can't arrest a hurricane, Elena. And you certainly can't scrub a database distributed across ten thousand moving ships on the open ocean."
