Chapter 27 - The Fall of the Syndicate

The crisp click of steel handcuffs wrapping around Sir Alistair Vance’s wrists echoed sharply through the mahogany-paneled boardroom. The once-untouchable British aristocrat was hauled to his feet by two federal officers, his face flushed with impotent rage as he glared daggers at Grace and Declan.

"This is an outrage!" Sir Alistair shouted, his voice cracking as he was dragged toward the double doors. "You won't get away with this! The syndicate will—"

"The syndicate is currently receiving unannounced visits from Swiss, French, and British federal prosecutors across three capitals," Declan interrupted coldly, stepping into his path. "Your accounts are frozen, your proxies are in custody, and your network is history. Enjoy your stay in Her Majesty's prison."

The heavy oak doors slammed shut behind them, leaving the remaining ten board members frozen in stunned silence. Not a single person dared to breathe, let alone speak. The absolute dominance of Grace and Declan in the room was absolute and unquestionable.

Grace straightened her jacket, walked calmly to the head of the table, and finally took her seat in the high-backed leather executive chair. She looked around the room, meeting the eyes of every single board member with unblinking, commanding authority.

"The audit is complete," Grace announced, her voice echoing clearly across the room. "Any remaining assets tied to external syndicates have been fully recovered and reallocated to our primary infrastructure trust. Aegis Global is stronger, cleaner, and more secure than it has ever been in its history."

She paused, letting the weight of her words sink into every mind present.

"Meeting adjourned," Grace concluded.

Within thirty seconds, the board members stood up hurriedly and filed out of the room in absolute silence, eager to distance themselves from the wreckage of the fallen conspiracy.

When the heavy doors finally clicked shut, leaving just Grace, Declan, and Arthur alone in the vast boardroom, Grace let out a long, slow breath, leaning back in her chair and closing her eyes for a brief moment.

Arthur walked over to the table, placing a secure tablet down before her. "Interpol just confirmed that the primary Cayman accounts have been fully seized and repatriated back into our corporate treasury. The Orion Syndicate's European arm is officially defunct."

"Good work, Arthur," Declan said, clapping the older man on the shoulder. "Take a well-deserved sabbatical. You've earned it."

Arthur nodded, offering a respectful bow before turning and exiting the room, leaving Grace and Declan completely alone in the quiet sanctuary of the executive suite.

Declan walked around the mahogany table, pulled out the chair beside Grace, and sat down. He took her hand in his, feeling the warmth of her fingers against his palm.

"Well," Declan smiled softly, gazing into her amber eyes. "That officially concludes our European tour of hostile corporate takeovers."

Grace smiled back, a profound sense of peace washing over her features—not the fragile peace of someone hiding from a storm, but the unshakeable peace of someone who had conquered it.

"Good," Grace whispered, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Because I think it's time we finally take that vacation to Paris. Without the syndicate."
