Chapter 66 - Descent Upon the Mediterranean

The flight across the Atlantic was a blur of tactical briefings, encrypted satellite maps, and rigorous equipment checks.

As the Gulfstream greased onto the private airstrip outside Valletta under the cover of a pitch-black, moonless pre-dawn sky, Evelyn felt an electric surge of pure adrenaline coursing through her veins. There was no fear left in her soul—only cold, calculated focus.

Within minutes of touching down, the team transferred into two reinforced, matte-black Land Rovers with local civilian plates, slipping silently through the sleepy coastal roads of southern Malta toward the secluded smuggler's cove where the Siren’s Ghost was harbored.

The Mediterranean breeze carried the sharp, salty scent of the sea, mixed with the faint, metallic tang of diesel exhaust and burning oil from the harbor yards.

Arthur cut the engine a quarter-mile away from the perimeter fence, motioning for the team to disembark into the dense brush of an ancient olive grove.

"We go in through the drainage culvert on the western perimeter," Arthur whispered, mapping out the infiltration route on a glowing tactical display held by one of the operators. "It bypasses the primary electric gate and brings us directly beneath the central warehouse holding our medical containers."

"And the guards?" Evelyn asked, sliding a specialized carbon-fiber combat knife into her boot sheath.

"Neutralized silently by the advance scout team," Arthur replied, checking the load on his suppressed carbine. "We move fast, secure the cargo manifest, and extract before local law enforcement even realizes a breach has occurred."

"And if Julian Thorne is on board that ship?" Evelyn inquired, her voice dangerously calm.

"Then we invite him to surrender," Arthur said grimly. "And if he declines... we accommodate him."

Moving with the silent, deadly grace of ghosts, the team breached the perimeter fence within seconds. The heavy steel drainage culvert echoed with the hollow drip of stagnant water as they waded through the darkness, emerging directly into the subterranean maintenance level of the Maltese port warehouse.

The battle for Vale Meridian’s future was about to begin, and Evelyn was standing right at the center of the storm.
